Resources for Healing

On this page, I share resources that have been helpful on my journey of healing.

These are motivational quotes that have helped me in my journey of healing. I hope they speak to you as well!

“You matter, despite what life may show you at times, always know that you matter.”

Janay H.

“Never let any circumstance, situation or person be the reason you silence your truth.”

Navigating Triggers

Tips on Trigger Tracking

Trigger Tracking is a practice I have found helpful in my life. Here is how to navigate it.

  • Monitor your triggers by writing down your change in mood throughout the day before you became affected.
  • Write down three things you were doing before and then try to list three emotions you were feeling while doing these activities.
  • Be sure to write down the time you began to feel triggered. This can help you understand what brought on the trigger.
  • If writing out each emotion becomes tiring, practice meditating while checking in with your body.
  • Ask yourself questions that center around your feeling and thoughts: Where is this thought coming from? Do I feel irritated and angry? Am I scared?

Creating Safe Spaces

Building Your Own Safe Space

I confided in someone and it helped me, so maybe this could help you as well. Having at least one person aware of your situation can provide a grounding during times of need.

Allowing yourself to feel your emotions and work through them can also help you create a space where you feel comfortable. This refers back to trigger tracking, but can also be done in separation.

Therapy Options

Visiting your local therapy clinic, or talking with your doctor for the best information may help. Another option you have is researching different locations that focus on areas you specifically need to work on.

There are other clinics and resources out there, but for now, I will list the most important ones below:

Suicide Prevention:

GoodTherapy: This website list different approaches to healing from therapy, not everything works for everyone. This is okay, remember you have to find what works for you.

Poppy’s Therapeutic Corner, LLC: This link will lead you to a black therapist who specializes in helping those in our community receive proper therapy.

Meditation practices can help keep you centered and calm during distressing situations. I like to find quiet spaces to write while burning a candle. I often work out to release the tension built up over time. Again, if these methods do not work for you, develop new techniques that work for you.

Another thing I have practiced is writing out all my worries; transforming them into positive actions. I typically do this before bed, to prevent distressing nightmares.

You can do this.
